What a beautiful weekend in Waskesiu, Saskatchewan, in the P.A. National Park. The sun shone without any interference from clouds and the wind was nowhere to be found. Although the townsite itself was not extremely quiet, it's a great time of the year to visit, as the crowds are nothing compared to July and August. The fall colours are just perfect right now for photography, and it happens to be that time of the year when the local Elk are mating. We were lucky enough to hear the throaty bugling of the big bulls, and see him herding his harem through the bush. Because these elk are protected within the park, they're quite used to seeing people close up, so there we times when some of the smaller ones were within a few feet of us, as they passed through the site we were staying at. We'll make a point of being back here again near this same time next year.
